Quality – The Global G.A.P.

Primary sector is the first sector in which market globalization is deeply important. GLOBAL G.A.P. (already known as EUREP G.A.P.) has become a key character for Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P.) in global market, transferring customers needs to agricultural production in a growing number of countries – more than 80 nowadays.

GLOBAL G.A.P. is a private association that sets voluntary standards for certifying agricultural products all over the world. Its goal is to realize an only G.A.P. standard with different implementations, good at satisfying global agriculture.

GLOBAL G.A.P. is a pre-agricultural standard, that’s to say that the certificate covers certification process starting from agricultural inputs, such as animal feeds or seeds and every other agricultural activity, till the product leaves the company.

GLOBAL G.A.P. is a company brand (B2B) so it is not directly usable by consumers.

GLOBAL G.A.P. is followed in more than 80 countries by more than 100 independent certification bodies. It is opened for producers all around the world. GLOBAL G.A.P. gives yearly inspections and even more unannounced inspections.

GLOBAL G.A.P. is composed of several legal documents. These documents are about GLOBAL G.A.P. general laws, Control Points and Compliance criterions and GLOBAL G.A.P. checklist.

Seen the important number of agricultural safety systems existing before GLOBAL G.A.P., we had to find out a way to encourage quality management system developments, good for the situation and for keeping producers far from other audit.  Already existing national management systems that have made it through benchmarking are recognized as GLOBAL G.A.P.

The GLOBAL G.A.P. standard gets reviewed each three years in order to grant a continuous improvement and in order to evaluate technological and market development.

Traceability through GLOBAL G.A.P. GGN

GLOBAL G.A.P. GGN is a number made of 13 digits that identifies each producer in GLOBAL G.A.P. database univocally. Each certification member  is identified by a GGN. This works as a research key to validate certificates.
